Wedding Jewelry - summer 2009 Trends

By Denise Sanger, executive summarized by Andromeda

Jewelry and color are playing major roles in the wedding trends for this summer. Lavish accessories with giant gems, beading, and a splash of color are very hot. Elaborate collar necklaces with colored gems, beads, or crystals are very trendy. The brilliant colors accentuate the dresses and flowers, yet stand out on their own as well.
Jewelry pieces that incorporate flowers or rosettes are trendy because they celebrate spring and summer. Brides still wanting a classic, timeless look are layering multiple strands of pearls instead of sticking with a simple choker.
As more and more weddings are centered around a particular theme, ethnic jewelry with cultural influences is becoming more popular. For example, if you are having a destination wedding, check out the jewelry that is native to that region--Mexico, India, Thailand, etc. Some incorporate tassels, feathers, large sterling silver beads, or carved gemstone beads. This can definitely give your wedding dress a global flair.
Large, chunky earrings are currently the order of the day in jewelry trends. Don't be afraid to step out of the box and try something a little daring. Just put the whole outfit together and give it a little time to soak in. If you still don't love it, then find something else that you do! You can still find trendy chandelier earrings that are elegant without being too over-the-top.
While costume jewelry is definitely back, don't forget that sometimes less is more. If you're in doubt, you can always stick to simple and timeless. It's a look that never goes out of style. Experiment with different looks BEFORE your big day, so that you don't cringe every time you see your wedding photos years from now. You can turn a classic look into something a little more modern simply by adding a splash of color. No matter what look you decide on, we have something for everyone at very affordable prices.
